For over six decades, the name VISSER has stood for reliable weighing technology in the heart of the Ruhr region. Founded in 1962 by master mechanic Heinz Visser, the company has developed into a nationally recognized specialist for industrial weighing solutions. Whether precision scales for laboratories, robust rail scales for heavy goods traffic or customized weighing systems for the food industry – VISSER has always supplied solutions that are tailored to the requirements of our customers.
In 1994, Holger Thiel and Barbara Visser-Thiel, daughter of the founder, took over the company as a sole proprietorship. In 2002, the current limited company was founded and Holger Thiel became its managing director. Together with Barbara Visser-Thiel, the tradition of the family business was consistently continued. They run the company with vision and a spirit of innovation.
In January 2025, VISSER became part of the ESSMANN Group in order to secure the long-term future of the Duisburg site and further expand the scales portfolio and range of services.

Founded in 1962 in the Neuenkamp district of Duisburg between the Rhine, Ruhr and the port of Duisburg and firmly rooted in the Ruhr region ever since, Wägetechnik VISSER is a true child of the “Pott”. Having grown up directly at the interface between heavy industry, logistics and trade, we know the region’s requirements first-hand – and have been supplying the right weighing solutions for real movers and shakers for over 60 years.
